Tiffany & Co will open its fourth store in Singapore in the spring of 2010, the company said Thursday. The 2,750-square-foot store will be located in Singapore's Marina Bay Sands Shoppes, a new retail center for luxury brands.
"We are extremely excited about joining this dynamic retail community and unveiling our own heritage of quality and craftsmanship that make shopping at Tiffany a unique experience." said James Quinn, president of Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany also opened a less formal store at University Village in Seattle on Friday. The store, which is smaller than Tiffany's other Seattle locations, offers a more relaxed sales environment to encourage customers to discover their own style, according to The Seattle Times.
The store has glass doors instead of Tiffany's trademark stainless steel doors, so that it will be less intimidating and more inviting to enter. Inside the store, various jewelry is displayed on top tables to allow customers to touch pieces without asking for permission. Salespeople can also ring up sales on handheld cash registers. Tiffany opened a similar store at the Americana shopping center in Glendale, California last year, The Seattle Times reported.
